Laura Booker discussed Authentic Connections. Laura considers herself to act and live authentically but in her younger years (she’s only 31 so we are not talking that many years ago!) she was reading a book which listed female leaders of Canada and found her aunt among one of the women listed. This wasn’t one of those distant aunts whom she barely saw, this was an aunt whom she was close to. She had to read in a book that her aunt was a leader for women in international business – the very career that Laura was involved with. This revelation helped Laura realize that even with family, friend and collegues that we know (or think we know) quite well we really are not always interacting authentically with every opportunity.

Laura Booker

It was a defining moment for her and one we were grateful that she shared. We have met a number of each other in this event but have we really connected? I know I have only done so on the surface and can’t wait for our next break to be much more authentic for the rest of my day and every day from now on. Thank you Laura!!!!!

The opening night of Connect The Dots Ottawa aka the PJ party was a success!! There was lot’s of pampering, more pampering, amazing treats, products related to women and amazing speakers.

I have to say that it was somewhat weird to be riding the elevator all the way to the penthouse in my pjs. There were a number of events at the Crowne Plaza at the same time however everyone was in their business best.

As soon as I got off the elevator I was presented with a feather boa and I knew that the night was going to be fun. I then met the ladies from Goddessnet and collected my red rose. I did fill in a story about the evening on the forum.

No sooner had I entered the room everyone was ranting and raving about the treats and spa treatments. So I went to see what it was all about.

My initial intent was to get some video and photos of the event and I did manage that. However I even managed to get some much overdue pampering and I have to say that I would definitely go back to these spas that provided these services. The treats were AMAZING!!!

I was getting a facial while Zandra Bell was entertaining the crowd and I have to say that was a first for me. Typically when you go to get a spa treatment there is relaxing music in the background however this time I had a comedian there instead. It great and maybe the spas need to try that out, comedy and facial.

Sue McGarvie told us like it is, how you can keep the spark going way until you are 90!! She pointed out that for women the secret was dark chocolate, wine and omega 3. Well we had 2 out of 3 last night.

Cindy Almond demonstrated the art of pole dancing and the ladies showed us their stuff!!! Way to go ladies.

I did leave shortly after this so have no more stories to tall about the rest of the night however I did upload a few pictures to Facebook for Highlights from the PJ party. I do have video footage however you will have to wait for a bit as I will need some time to edit some of the content. I now look forward to a full day of conference.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Everyone on the team has been working long hours and going over and beyond to make sure everything is in place for this event. If you have ever organized an event you know exactly what I am talking about. It’s all the little details that need to come together in the hours leading to the event.

In all the craziness, excitement and anticipation Carrie took on an additional role and that was to just say thank you, inspire us and get us there to the finish line

So even though everyone is running around today she sent a beautiful email reminding us that we were here, Connect the Dots is a mere few hours away.

So thanks Carrie for taking time for those emails. Thanks to the awesome team for putting this event together and I can’t wait for it to all begin.

See you all tonite.
