Story behind the brand 2

When it came to developing a brand for Connect the Dots, I immediately asked our lead designer at Blackbird, Bronwyn Hammell, to work with me on the project. Bronwyn is young and energetic and has great vision. Her design work is always fresh and on the mark! We started working with different colours because we wanted it to be corporate but with a soft side just like the female entrepreneurs we know! Then we started playing with various ways to incorporate the dots into the logo so that it would make an impact.

Bronwyn saw a poster for the movie, In Her Shoes, with Cameron Diaz and the stylized photo in it sent us in a whole new direction. From that, we envisioned real business women being featured in the materials looking confident and successful. She suggested doing a photoshoot of real business women we knew who would be participating in Connect the Dots. I contacted Christine Tripp, a well-known female photographer and she agreed to come one board and help us with the project. We spent a fun afternoon in Christine’s studio photographing our leading business women and voila – the campaign was born!

Thanks to the very talented Bronwyn Hammell and Christine Tripp for helping to build a strong brand and identity for this event!
